"THE DAYS ARE NUMBERED" is a song which deals with man's inhumanity to man and is directly related to the events of 9/11, although it is not specifically limited to that tragedy. As an artist, I struggled enormously with the weight and the magnitude of the events of that day and it was very difficult to find the proper vehicle and musical language to express myself without trivializing the tremendous sacrifices that were made by so many people. Many folks/artists, with great intentions, "rushed" out paint by number songs to try and capture the mood of the country... the rage and the indignation... the celebration of the resilient American spirit etc.

I hope my song manages to touch some of you on a deeper level because we ultimately are citizens of the world, with a collective human spirit ~ I would like to especially send this song out to Jilly on the Rust List with the sweetsweetsmile! Thanks for your support and kind words! This is not intended to be a political song but it certainly has political ramifications, so for God's sake, please get out and rock the vote!

"TROPICAL SCYTHE" is a song about nature's catastrophic, destructive side and reflects some of my first and second hand experiences with Hurricane Charley when I was in Naples, FL in July. I found the juxtaposition of a crop clearing/mowing/harvesting implement with a devastating, killer storm to be both visually and poetically intriguing... hence, "the scythe of Mother Nature is raised."

The rhythm section here is really locked down tight and echoes of South Africa are prevalent. Say a prayer for these folks in Florida because this relentless cycle of storms is unimaginable... one was enough for me.
